With over three decades of experience as CEO of national trade associations in the trucking industry, Petty has served nearly twenty years as President and Chief Executive Office of the National Private Truck Council (NPTC). Founded in l939, the Council represents manufacturers, retailers, and distributors which operate private fleet trucks as a component of their corporate supply chain networks. Private truck fleets constitute nearly one-half of commercial motor vehicle fleets operating in the United States.

Under his leadership, the Council has grown significantly in membership participation and is recognized as one of the top national trade associations in the United States devoted to corporate transportation management. The Council conducts some of the most successful meeting events and management training programs in the trucking industry including the Private Fleet Management Institute; the Certified Transportation Professional^® program; the Annual Conference and Exhibition Trade Show; the National Safety Conference, and the Annual Benchmarking Survey Report.

For almost twenty years, Petty has served as Private Fleet Editor and columnist at Fleet Owner Magazine and has authored over two hundred articles on successful fleet management practitioners and business models.
