NPTC Announces 2025 Fleet Safety Awards

ARLINGTON, VA – Thirteen private fleets who have demonstrated continued improvement and dedication in elevating their safety performance year over year have been honored by receiving the NPTC Fleet Safety Awards, sponsored by International Motors. The recognition took place in conjunction with the NPTC Annual Education Management Conference and Exhibition, which was held May 11-13 in Orlando, Fla.

”The Fleet Safety Awards recognize NPTC member companies that work to make safety a priority in their private fleet operations,” said Kate Mirise, CTP, Chair of the NPTC Safety Committee and Central Ohio Logistics Manager for The Royal Group. “These annual fleet safety awards in particular recognize companies with the lowest ratio of accidents per million miles for the past year.” This year’s winners (based on safety performance achieved in 2024) are:

LOCAL (fleets whose vehicles deliver in a local market regardless of size)

    1. United Scrap Metal, Inc.
    1. Messer LLC
    1. Target Stores

REGIONAL (all other fleets, including long-haul)

    1. America’s Service Line, LLC

MIXED SMALL (fewer than 100 vehicles)       

    1. RedGuard
    2. Clinton’s Ditch Coop Co., Inc.
    3. Hillyard, Inc.

MIXED LARGE (more than 100 vehicles)

    1. Contract Transportation Systems/Sherwin-Williams Co.
    2. Vantive
    3. New South Express, Inc.

Also recognized were those fleets with outstanding and/or improved safety records based upon their crash rates. Winners of the Gold Seal, awarded to fleets with a terminal that experienced ZERO crashes in 2024, include:

    • Hillyard, Inc.
    • Interstate Batteries
    • Messer LLC
    • New South Express, Inc

Winners of the Silver Seal, presented to those companies with a terminal that reduced its vehicle crash rates by 40% or more compared to the previous year, were:

    • Hillyard, Inc.
    • Interstate Batteries
    • Marathon Petroleum Company LP
    • New South Express, Inc.

The Bronze Seal recognition is presented to companies with a terminal that reduced its vehicle crash rates by 20% to 39% from the previous year. The winners of the Bronze Seal are:

    • Hillyard, Inc.
    • Marathon Petroleum Company LP
    • Orgill Transportation Co., LLC
