NPTC/Navistar’s NEXT Solutions Announce 2022 Fleet Safety Awards

ARLINGTON, VA – More than 20 private fleets who have demonstrated continued improvement and dedication in elevating their safety performance year over year have been honored by receiving the NPTC/Navistar’s NEXT Solutions’ Fleet Safety Awards. The recognition took place in conjunction with the NPTC Annual Education Management Conference and Exhibition, which was held April 10-12 in Cincinnati, OH.

The Fleet Safety Awards recognize NPTC member companies that work to make safety a priority in their private fleets’ operations,” said Tim Eckhardt, CTP, Chair of the NPTC Safety Committee and Director of Safety for Dot Transportation, Inc. “These annual fleet safety awards in particular recognize companies with the lowest ratio of accidents per million miles for the past year.” This year’s winners (based on safety performance achieved in 2021) are:

LOCAL (fleets whose vehicles deliver in a local market regardless of size)

1. Blain Supply, Inc.
1. United Scrap Metal
3. Composites One LLC

REGIONAL (all other fleets, including long-haul)

1. Procter & Gamble Distributing LLC
2. Johnsonville Trucking LLC

MIXED SMALL (fewer than 100 vehicles)

1. Metal Exchange Corporation
2. Sugar Foods Corporation
3. Unifi Manufacturing, Inc.

MIXED LARGE (more than 100 vehicles)

1. Baxter Healthcare Corporation
2. New South Express, LLC
3. Marathon Petroleum Company LP

Also recognized, were those fleets with outstanding and/or improved safety records based upon their crash rates. Winners of the Gold Seal, awarded to fleets with a terminal that experienced ZERO crashes in 2021, include:

  • CVS Health
  • Hillyard, Inc.
  • The Home Depot, Inc.
  • Schwan Food Company

Winners of the Silver Seal, presented to those companies with a terminal that reduced its vehicle crash rates by 40% or more compared to the previous year, were:

  • Hillyard, Inc.
  • Orgill Transportation Co., LLC
  • Schwan Food Company

The Bronze Seal recognition is presented to companies with a terminal that reduced its vehicle crash rates by 20% to 39% from the previous year. The winners of the Bronze Seal are:

  • CVS Health
  • Hillyard, Inc.
  • Schwan Food Company
