NPTC Announces Board of Directors Election and Appointments

Alexandria, VA – Charlie Rottmund, Chairman of the National Private Truck Council (NPTC), announced today the following Board elections and appointments:

Matthew W. Peterson, CTP, Vice Chair/Chair-Elect

Matthew W. Peterson, CTP, of Mack Leasing was elected as NPTC’s Vice Chair/Chair-Elect. This is the first time in NPTC’s 63-year history that an Allied Member company representative has held this position.
Mr. Peterson, Manager, National Account Sales for Mack Leasing System, Inc., previously served as Chairman, Third Party Provider Division on the NPTC Board of Directors. Matt has also served on the organization's Finance Committee. He has been a member of NPTC for over 10 years and has been a presenter at both the NPTC Institute and its Annual Conferences for the past three years.
Currently Mr. Peterson is responsible for the coordination and development of vehicle leasing and maintenance solutions for multi-location private fleet customers at Mack Leasing, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mack Trucks, Inc. Matt also represents Mack Leasing System as a committee member of the North American Dealer Advisory Committee – Leasing Subcommittee. He has also served on various committees with Food Distributors International.
Prior to joining Mack, Mr. Peterson served as a national account executive at NationaLease and as General Manager for his family's leasing and maintenance business in the Chicago area.
Mr. Peterson received a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Southern Illinois University. He earned his Certified Transportation Professional (CTP) designation in 2000.

Lance Bertram, CTP, Chairman, Third Party Provider Division

Lance Bertram, CTP, Vice President, Marketing, Idealease of North America, has been appointed by the NPTC Executive Committee to serve on the Board of Directors as Chairman, Third Party Provider Division, filling the vacancy resulting from Mr. Peterson's election.
Mr. Bertram joined Idealease in 1995 as a National Account Executive and in 1999 was promoted to Vice President, Marketing, where he is responsible for marketing, distribution and advertising as well as the training of Idealease employees throughout the continent.
As an NPTC member, Mr. Bertram has been instrumental in promoting the educational/training standards carried by the NPTC. He believes our industry must be properly trained and operating safely and to that end has been the leader in promoting the Idealease/NPTC partnership to develop, organize, and conduct an annual series of Safety and Compliance Seminars around the country.
Mr. Bertram is a graduate of Louisiana State University. He earned his Certified Transportation Professional (CTP) designation in 1997 and has been a presenter at the NPTC Institute.

Rick Foster, Chairman, Legislative & Regulatory Advisory Committee

Rick Foster, Director, Private Fleet Safety, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., has been appointed to serve on the NPTC Board of Directors in the capacity of Chairman of the Legislative and Regulatory Advisory Committee.
Mr. Foster has 30 years in the transportation industry including 1.5 million miles driving experience. Prior to joining Wal-Mart, he spent 19 years in the LTL industry and his management experience includes all levels of terminal and safety management, as well as being a hazardous materials specialist.
Wal-Mart currently employs 6,600 driver associates and annually exceeds 99.6% on-time delivery. Rick takes pride in Wal-Mart being ranked first in this years Transport Topics’ "Top 100 Private Fleets" and of their record of being one of the safest fleets in the country.
Rick is a member of the Arkansas Trucking Association Safety Management Council. He is also a member of ATA's Safety Management Council and serves on the Accident Review and Regulations Committees.

Debra A. Stone, Chairman, Conference Planning Committee

Debra A. Stone, Corporate Logistics Operations Manager, McKee Foods Corporation, has also been appointed by the NPTC Executive Committee to serve on the Board of Directors. Ms. Stone will serve as Chair of the Conference Planning Committee filling a vacancy resulting from the resignation of the former Conference Planning Committee Chair.
Ms. Stone has been employed by McKee Foods for over 19 years and has held positions in Distribution, Purchasing, and Technical Services. Currently, Debra supervises the coordination of common carrier shipments, backhauls, and interplant transfers of Little Debbie Snack Cakes.
As a NPTC member, Debra has been a presenter at past Annual Conferences and prior to becoming its Chair, served for over three years on the NPTC Conference Planning Committee.
Ms. Stone is a graduate of Vanderbilt University with a degree in Chemistry. She is active in the Chattanooga Transportation Club and holds the designation of Certified Purchasing Manager from the National Association of Purchasing Management. Debra is the past president of both NAPM-Chattanooga and the American Chemical Society-Chattanooga/local section.
