NPTC Announces Safety Award Winners

ARLINGTON, VA – The National Private Truck Council (NPTC) recognized those fleet members who continue to elevate safety performance during the group’s Annual Education Management Conference and Exhibition held April 29 – May 1, 2012 in Cincinnati.

“The purpose of the Safety Awards program is to recognize member companies that strive to make private fleet safety a benchmark of their operations,” said Randy Perry, CTP, Fleet Safety Manager for Frito-Lay, Inc. and Chair of the NPTC Safety Committee. “The NPTC/Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions Fleet of the Year Awards are presented to companies whose fleets experienced the lowest ratio of accidents per million miles for the past year.” The 2012 winners (based on safety performance achieved in 2011) are:

LOCAL OPERATIONS (fleets whose vehicles deliver in a local market regardless of size)

First Place:                  Dominion Virginia Power

Second Place:             Milliken & Company

Third Place:                 Ace Hardware Corporation

REGIONAL OPERATIONS (Small Fleet – less than 50 vehicles)

First Place:                   Hospira Fleet Services

REGIONAL OPERATIONS (Large Fleet – 50 vehicles or more)

First Place:                    Hittman Transport Services, Inc.

Second Place:               Contract Transportation Systems/Sherwin Williams

MIXED OPERATIONS (Small Fleet – less than 50 vehicles)

First Place:                      Moen Inc.

Second Place:                 Sugar Foods Corporation, Internal Fleet

Third Place:                     Cooper Tire & Rubber Company

MIXED OPERATIONS (Large Fleet – 50 vehicles or more)

First Place:                      GNC Transportation LLC

Second Place:                 Northwest Food Products Transportation, LLC/Land O Lakes

Third Place:                     Targa Transport LLC

Also recognized, were those fleets with outstanding and/or improved safety records based upon their crash rates. Winners of the Gold Seal, awarded to fleets that experienced ZERO crashes in 2011, include:

  1. ADM Trucking, Inc.
  2. Batesville Logistics, Inc.
  3. CVS Transportation LLC
  4. Hittman Transport Services
  5. Shaw Transport, Inc.
  6. Targa Transports LLC

Winners of the Silver Seal, presented to those companies whose fleets reduced their vehicle crash rates by 40% or more compared to the previous year, were:

  • ADM Trucking, Inc.
  • Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, LLC
  • CVS Transportation LLC
  • Frito-Lay, Inc.
  • Orgill, Inc.
  • Shaw Transport, Inc.

The Bronze Seal recognition is presented to companies who have reduced their vehicle crash rates by 20% to 39% from the previous year. The winners of the Bronze Seal are:

  • ADM Trucking, Inc.
  • CVS Transportation LLC
  • Frito-Lay, Inc.
